Communication Media Selection

After the business and technical requirements are clearly defined, selecting the most appropriate communications media is a critical decision. Many choices often exist including commercial cellular, satellite - LEO or new VSAT service offerings, unlicensed radio - spread spectrum or 802.11, licensed radio technologies, fiber, and telephone company product offerings. Development of communication specifications and the use of Requests For Proposals (RFPs) to lead vendors is often a key to successful projects and contracting.

PSE is truly an independent consulting firm with relevant experience in almost all communication medias. Current projects exist utilizing fiber, spread spectrum radio, 1xRTT and GSM cellular, VSAT satellite, Power Line Carrier, 802.11, MAS and UHF/VHF radio. This relevant experience provides the capability for PSE to make technology and product recommendations without requiring extensive upfront technology analysis and research. Having existing expertise on the communication media alternatives provides value to our client.
