PSE performs key impact study for large solar array project in Michigan

June 5, 2017

Heritage Sustainable Energy (Heritage) is in the process of constructing a solar array in Traverse City that is expected to begin producing power in October. The city’s municipal utility, Traverse City Light & Power (TCLP), as part of an initiative to use renewable energy to power all of their government operations, has agreed to purchase the array’s output.

Heritage contracted PSE to study the solar array installation and determine the system improvements necessary to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the facility in line with TLCP’s operation requirements. Chris Graff, located in our Sioux Falls, SD office, completed the system impact study.

The solar array will have a rated output of 1 Megawatt (MW), but the site has the potential for additional capacity in the future.

Please contact Chris Graff at graffc@powersystem.org or 605-221-1770 with any questions you have about how our system impact studies can help your utility.
